My experience, when I did some interview with several folks, I could see their faces changing when I asked them to give a name in their university I can call to crosscheck the degree. And I know they are lying.

Salary, I don't really care they are lying or not. We have our salary structure, that's all we can have...even though I really like one person, there is nothing I can do to break the salary barrier problem. If I give them tripled, but he/she worth to have it, so have it then...why not?

So for my perspective, they can lie all they want, but if they can't pass my interview, so nothing. Or they can never go to school, but if they can pass my interview, I don't really care...

I dunno this will help or not.

Every software usually have an evaluation version or trial period.
Within the trial period, we can evaluate the employee for "fit and proper" test. Even with an inflating rate of salary, if the employee show great result, we hire him/her.

I always believe this term: "You pay cheap you get monkey"
