Babak baru

Posted on May 15th, 2008 in Jakarta, Online earning

Babak 1: Feb 1999, Yahoo / Geocities
Babak 2: Mei 2004, Blogspot,
Babak 3: Jan 2006, Wordpress,
Babak 4: Jan 2008, Dotcom

Dukungan komunitas seperti top-post, blog of the day dari wordpresslah membuat pertumbuhan blog menjadi sangat cepat.

Does every telecom company ready for Etom?

Posted on May 1st, 2008 in Knowledge

Etom or Enhanced Telecommunication Operation Map is set of business process for Telecommunication Company. Etom is not the only business process mapping for telco company, since IBM also has the standard and some of consulting company also has the framework from business perspective or from financial risk perspective.

Implementing a high level framework that covers all of the telco business process is really helpful. The management could see the integration of every business process supporting the business. This integration also would simpler the management task to comply for every compliances from audit, IT or even HR and business compliances.

However, does every telecom company ready for this framework? Since, even the Etom created using best practices in every type of operation in telco business. But it’s still need a lot of modification to be able to be used effectively by the company. This modification usually takes a very long time since management need to align every part of business to this framework. And it’s a really time consuming task.

In wireless, the right technology is the key to success

Posted on April 29th, 2008 in Knowledge

In current wireless telecommunication competition, the right technology is the key to success. That’s why every telecom company has a huge and modern business planning & development department that supported by number of high paid consultant from Booz Allen Hammilton, Mc Kinsey and another top consulting firm.

According to report released by the MIT Sloan School of Management this concept is supported by the fact that the Telecommunication industry is in Oligopoly market which small number of players in the market, facing no risk of entry.

The report also stated that telecommunications market fits several criteria for oligopoly which also supported by

  • High barriers to entry (huge sunk and unrecoverable costs)
  • Regulation
  • Commodity undifferentiated products

Lakshmi Mittal, Britain’s richest and Krakatau Steel Indonesia

Posted on April 28th, 2008 in News

I heard that news from my television and really surprised knowing that Lakshmi Mittal become Britain richest man. Mittal has been living and start his steel business in Indonesia, but then choose to leave this country -maybe because bad business atmosphere down here. Here is quote from Indiatimes

“…According to The Sunday Times Rich List 2008, Lakshmi Mittal, Indian steel baron, has been ranked as Britain’s richest resident for the fourth year. The steel baron consolidated his position at the top by acquiring world’s leading steel company Arcelor last year. The combined business, Arcelor Mittal, produces 115 million tons of steel a year and accounts for ten per cent of market. …”

Steel industry is rose due to high demand from new industrial country such as from China. China demand for steel is rose high recently. After more than 30 years leaving Indonesia, who know that Arcelor Mittal will able perform acquisition for Krakatau Steel - largest steel company in Indonesia. What an irony

Beside Arcelor Mittal, Essar (India), Bluescope (Australia), Posco (South Korea), Nanjing Steel (China) also try to perform acquisition for Krakatau Steel.

Bank Saudara, oldest private financial institution in Indonesia?

Posted on April 28th, 2008 in Knowledge

Have you ever heard Bank Saudara? A week ago I saw Bank Saudara billboard near my office. Showing that this ‘new’ bank as part of Medco group –one of Indonesian oil conglomerates owned by Arifin Panigoro – number 9th richest person in Indonesian (Forbes 2006).

When I read the profile, I’m quite surprise knowing that Bank Saudara is one of oldest private financial institution in Indonesia. Actually I’ve never heard Bank Saudara before. I guess the oldest private financial institution in Indonesia was Bank BCA, since they have a very large business expansion.

Well whatever, the Fact is Medco group getting richer.

Story about the priandoyo.com domain

Posted on April 25th, 2008 in Life

I’m Indonesian, blogging since May 2004 at priandoyo.blogspot.com, start build a website in geocities.com since 2000. However I start to write more seriously around 2006 using priandoyo.wordpress.com. So blogging is already become part of my life. And since today, I decided to write it in English on my own domain priandoyo.com and here is the story.

I love writing, firstly on more serious about my background around computer science, information system auditing or about computer security matter. However since I’m marry a beautiful wife, I change my writing style more to family matter also included writing topics about property, salary and jobs in more personal perspective.

At that time my blog was quite popular –at least according to alexa.org and google. Many friends of mine told me that I should start my own domain instead using free service from wordpress.com. However I didn’t see any urgency to start my own domain at that time. Until one day, after see many friend of mine start their own domain –yes I’m late adopter of technology- then I decided to took priandoyo.com

It was around early 2008 I always watch who is record for priandoyo.com. And no one book that domain. I know, sound crazy if someone want to took priandoyo.com domain but it’s happen. Fortunately, the Ultra RPM registrar who register priandoyo.com want to understand this situation and release priandoyo.com in open market, just one days after i email the company. Big thanks for the Ultra RPM
